Silvered hilt with ribbon scroll cross guard, plumed helmet pommel and shaped ebony grip. Laurel wreath with double delta guard. 28 ¼” blade decorated 2/3 its length with foliage, owner’s name and DeWitt Clinton Commandery K T. Plated scabbard with hand engraved mounts. The top mount with red enamel inlay. Uniform aging with the silver mostly preserved. Blade bright and crisp. The maker recorded as established in 1866 with no further information. The construction and decoration indicative of a c.1880 date.
