Short sword proportions with 16" blade with chiseled serpentine decoration as found on the long swords. The blade is crisp with original tool finish and preservative.  Iron guard and shaped wood hilt inlaid both sides with white metal wire and disks in geometric patterns on both sides. Red pigment disks to the front. Wood scabbard with matching decoration. Showing honest use with glossy patina. Dating to the period of conflict with the French in the 1890s and continued resistance to the occupation which culminated in the 1925 Rif uprising immortalized in Sigmund Romberg's The Desert Song. Long elegant example.
