VIKING FLINT STRIKER, C.850-1050 AD

Forged iron 2 1/2" length. Finely forged. Tapered, wedge section striking bar with scalloped end. Curved terminal opposite forming the finger stall and ending with a swelled base point, possibly a stylized serpent head. The curvilinear form is suggestive of the prow of the Viking long warship. Swivel suspension shackle. Conserved sound excavated condition.
