1 ½” length, broken from a larger figure. Modeled with five peaks and made by the open mold casting technique. The mermaid was known in both Greek and Roman mythology but representations with the multiple peaked tail appear to be specifically Roman. Numerous representation of this form, largely in mosaics and wall paintings, have survived. Excellent preservation.
