1st-2nd century AD. Small example, about 1 1/4” length. Complete as made and not detached from a larger object. Classic depiction with arched body, fan tail and protruding snout. Well modeled and excellent preservation with original detail and surfaces throughout. Numerous examples of this image are preserved, with a significant number in mosaics, many with Cupid astride the dolphin.
