FINE VIKING ARROWHEAD, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD

Forged iron slightly under 4 3/8” (4.34”) length. Medially ridged point with an elegantly cusped bottom on the flared seat bolster. Tapered tang. The thickened point is as used for raiding along with the coastal towns of the Mediterranean, particularly the Italian peninsula. Similar examples of Viking tanged arrowheads are preserved at the Swedish History Museum, Stockholm. Large size and excellent stable excavated condition.
