CELTIC BRONZE HORSE FIGURE, 400-100 BC

Bronze figure of a prancing horse in profile. Sculpted in the round both sides, but thin. Just over 1 5/8” (1.65”) in height with an elongated body and delineated face and exaggerated forelock. As found, undamaged and crisply preserved with fine patina. On display mount. The Celts were regarded as the finest cavalry of their time and ultimately, were enlisted by Romans as mercenaries.
