VIKING LUNAR PENDANT NECKLACE, 9TH-11TH CENTURY AD

Provincially made. Silvered bronze, just over 1 1/8” (1.18”) width. Thin section silvered bronze with addorsed tips. The front with engraved hatching. The top with a separate suspension loop riveted on. Lunar pendants were worn as pectorals as well as suspended from belts, other clothing, and horse harnesses. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored, on an 18” gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
