Also known as a karitka. Ritual instrument to chop brains and viscera of enemies which are offered in the kapala (skull cup). It symbolizes the cutting through of ignorance, ego, delusions, and negative forces (method aspect of enlightenment). This is a fine miniature complete with iron blade and vajra grip. It is vintage, probably dating to the 1950’s exodus from Tibet of Buddhism driven out by communist Chinese. It is about 1 ½” in height and comes with a modern gilt silver mounted polished leather neck cord (not shown).
