Vintage to antique. Beautifully made, die struck in fine detail with portrait of the monk surrounded by inscriptions. The reverse with cabalistic symbols and inscriptions. These were made to honor specific monks who led exemplary lives and are deemed to have spiritual powers, similar to Christian saints and holy medals. Each crisply detailed and heavily gold overlaid.
