MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN CHRISTIAN RING, SIZE 12 ½

Highly identifiable type popular in Northern Europe in the 15th-17th century. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.30. Gilt bronze, large size 12 1/2 with 3.2mm rounded face band with expanded shell form shoulders. Circular bezel with a floral quatrefoil superimposed on a four  point star, representing the cross and the Star of Bethlehem, depicted as a four point star at the time. Surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
