C.1900 from the Sir Cecil Armitage Collection, collected before 1920. Made by the lost wax process with a compressed octagonal section, C form band, and large faceted cubical terminals, the outer facets with incised decoration. Additional decoration above on the bands.  Entirely formed of one piece of copper-rich bronze with a little wear from use and a fine dark patina. 2 1/8" inside dimension. Worn by Ashanti women and used as weapons when fighting other women. This is about as large as they come.
