Gilt bronze, over ¾” (0.78”)  height plus the ring. Large domed form, with medial fold to the front.  The back recessed. A form about which there is some uncertainty.  These have been variously described as fruit or sea shell form. However, several variant sources describe these as worn specifically by prostitutes. As prostitution was openly practiced, that may be the case.  Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on and 18” sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear.
