ANCIENT GREEK CHRISTIAN RING, 4TH-5TH CENTURY AD, SIZE 5 1/2

Gilt bronze with low domed circular bezel engraved with a flared beam cross in saltire position on reeded ground. The Saltire represents the X shaped cross (or crux decussata) on which Saint Andrew (peter’s brother) was crucified. Andrew is said to have preached for two days from the cross before succumbing. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
