Civil War issue. Standard pattern. Identified, The American Sword, Peterson #10. 31-7/8" single edged blade with Ames makers name to the ricasso. The opposite side with U S / GGS/1861 (inspector George G Bowe). Blade smooth, blue turned brown with some pitting to the point from scabbard condensation. Hilt with two shallow sword blows to the guard, storage surface soiling and age patina. Excellent Civil War example.
