US 1872 CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD

See The American Sword, Peterson #86.  Custer era and showing distinctive Western Frontier character. 31 3/4" broad fullered blade marked C LOMBARDIE NEW YORK NY on the ricasso. That retailer was well known for marketing swords of this pattern. Brass hilt with three bar guard and wire wrapped leather covered grip (a little dry but complete). Unplated iron scabbard, with gray patina and brass mounts matching the hilt including both suspension strap clips.  Blade crisp with uniform gray patina. Early Custer era example with great age appearance which exudes Western/cowboy character.
