Late 19th century for Loyal Order of Moose. A fine sword of fighting weight which draws on the M.1850 Infantry Officer’s and 1872 Cavalry Officer’s swords for styling and made to military officer’s sword standards. The hilt incorporating the Moose logo, otherwise unmarked. 29 ½” broad fullered and curved blade. Founded in 1888, the order was poorly received and moribund by the end of the century, abandoned by its founder. In 1906, there were but 247 members. The style and construction of this sword unquestionably place it before 1900, the infancy of the Loyal Order of Moose. We have found no other such example anywhere.
