Ex: Schindler’s Antiques, King Street, Charleston, purchased about 1980. Plated bronze about size 9 1/2 with raised hand stippled bezel set with an oval cabochon cut carnelian. It was common for cavalry troopers to remove their rings before battle as they marginally compromised the purchase of the sword grip. Showing distinct hand work of the period but just about as new condition with just slight soiling to the inside stone seat. Evidently new when taken to war and lost quite quickly.
