For priming artillery, field and naval. American made to the British pattern. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, p153 #23. 17” length including the base plug. Natural cow horn, with beautiful age patina. Later scratched in WD broad arrow. Finely turned wood base with screw out knob. Sheet brass conical charger with soldered seam, clearly of American manufacture. Hinged lever stopper. The base of the cone with a hole for securing the spring, now lacking. Very rare and with wonderful age character.
