AMERICAN EAGLE HEAD MILITIA OFFICER’S SWORD C.1820-30

Gilt brass hilt with P form guard and eagle pommel. Considerable original gold surface remaining with wear mostly to the grip back strap as expected from handling. Fluted bone grip with check/crack on each side. 30” broad fullered blade with fine gilt and blue decoration including trophies of arms, wreath and foliage. The gold is virtually 100% intact and bright. The blue is complete and bright with minor freckling and light degradation at the forte only. Just about as nice as they come with evidence of gentle use.
