For the legendary Welsh/English longbow. Forged iron, 2 1/2” length with butted seam conical socket and diamond section elongated pyramidal point. The classic bodkin arrow made to pierce leather and mail armor of the period. As well, the more compact form marginally increased the arrow’s range. See Celtic Warriors, Newark, p.90 second through fifth examples in the Welsh National Museum, Cardiff. The fifth particularly is near identical. Professionally conserved and stable. Considerable well grouped statistics regarding the capabilities of the Welsh longbow exist though not a single bow has survived. The Mary Rose, dating well past the prime of the long bow and firmly into the plate armor period produced 137 complete longbows (16th century) and over 3500 arrows, none of which was preserved with its point! Exceedingly rare and important.
