Attractive old copy of a medieval broadsword of about 1400. Brass hilt with fleur de lys and face motifs, evidently gilt originally.  33 ½” double edged blade decorated first half with splays of arms flanked by foliage both sides. Shows substantial aging and a type unknown to us. The decoration is very similar to that produced in Toledo Spain starting about 1860.  Probably a product of the Baronial Revival which started with the Eglinton Tournament in 1839 and ended with WWI, early 1920’s.
