Celebes (Sulawesi in Portuguese), west of Borneo, Is one of the four largest Indonesian islands and the 11th largest island in the world. This kris is of exceptional quality and preservation with an early blade (17th-18th century) remounted in the 19th century as was common. The hilt is a finely carved Garuda figure (two age cracks) on a fine silver mendak. The blade is of fine lineal pamir with uniform graining and no loss to oxidation. The scabbard is sheathed in brass embossed with four family seals, based on the royal seal, with multi wing splay two headed birds. Single dent to the front bottom and a few to the back . The finely figured wood throat mount is complete and undamaged.
