1879 War capture. Early example predating the war by decades and perhaps generations. 23 1/2" length. The iron head with four distinct blade impacts, probably from spear heads. Tapered bolster with hatched decoration. Wood haft slightly and gracefully curved with the bulbous terminal, above a step, slightly up turned. Grip area with black (pitch?) coating. The balance with heavy age encrustation. Head quite crisp with lamination as found on the "doubled" spears produced for Shake.
