9th-11th century AD. Gilt bronze. wearable size 9 1/4. Broad 5.1mm width band with a low rounded face. Made with a core filling the inside which distributed the flowing metal and allowed for slower cooling. The core was then laboriously removed by hand and the inside of the ring was polished. Remnants of the core are evident inside the ring. Surface textured overall from burial. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword. Professionally refurbished with the 24k gold overlay restored. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
