Iron, 4 ¼” length with slightly curved arms expanding to double slotted double slotted buckles. Ball form spike on slightly downturned shank, with raised central nub. This form of the prick is specific to Vikings as other European spurs of the period used a conical or pyramidal prick. Both forms represent evolutions from the Roman spurs which consisted of a small iron band with central spike, which was lashed to the boot heel. Excellent excavated condition.
