A prick spur of the very earliest form. Wrought iron of very diminutive form. Just 2 1/8" width. A rounded band fitting the heel with a simple central spike just long enough to penetrate the horse's fur and contact the skin. The terminals each pierced with a single hole (both eroded) for a leather thong which lashed the spur to the bare heal. Excavated and excellent but for the terminals. Exceedingly rare.
