Gilt bronze, made by the lost wax process. A long slender wire form pattern is made circular with the ends twisted around the body. The pattern, with a filling channel (sprue) is encased in very fine grain clay. After the clay has hardened, the molten metal is poured into the sprue and ring cavity vaporizing the wax upon contact. The result is a bronze ring, identical to the wax original. After removing the sprue, the ring is plated and ready for wear. This example has had the gold surface restored. It is about size 7 1/4 and 2.2mm width. This and A2359 are the only Celtic rings we have ever offered
