19th century. Large 15 1/8” length with 9 3/4” blade, medially ridged on the front. The back, flat. Wood grip, of kewang form, oval section and curved profile with two ranks of raised border leaf shaped figures, the upper carved in full relief forming eight ridges, converging in the depressed middle of the pommel. Brass base mount with expanded base and knurled band. Great age character. The grip with a single crack from tang oxidation, and fine patina overall. Blade with smooth gray patina. Very rare.
