Late 18th century. 25" recurved s.e. blade with thickened back, struck with a maker's mark on the left side shows distinctive patterning. Engraved silver bolsters and tang band. Two piece grip scales with expanded ear terminals, covered in black hide and secured with brass rivets. Blade with glossy gray patina a few tiny edge nicks and isolated small surface rust spots. Silver bolster edges worn. Good example dating the later period of traditional fighting techniques and armament as industrialization was tipping the balance of power from the Ottoman Empire.
