Traditional weapon of the Nilotic Turkana of East Africa. Iron, oval form with goat skin liner to protect the wrist and metal goat skin edge wrap to secure the blade when not in use (one tip missing). 4 1/4" width, skillfully forged with each face slightly convex in section and inscribed with a single mine. Four iron piques inset, evidently with spiritual significance, probably from the weapon of a defeated enemy. Especially well worked for these.
