Orange home spun cloth (linen?), 30 ¾” x 21”, with black image of a Buddha centered, surrounded by a pantheon of bodhisattvas. Excellent preservation. Purchased at Christies London in the 1970s from a collection of thankas brought out of Tibet following the Chinese take over in 1950. Prayer flags were hung on string lines on festival days to allow the wind to carry their prayers in aid of enlightenment.
