The Mongol conquest initiated in 1223 and was complete by 1240 with the destruction of many cities including Moscow and Kiev. This example accords in detail with Nicolle, 247a, dated 1200, in the Hermitage Museum. Forged, 2" length of square section with sharply angled point. It is likely that these were used as much to bring down horses as they were to kill the horsemen.
