Mahdist period. C.1880-5. Village made with 20 ¾” tool finished blade, probably made from a stolen wagon wheel tire. Crude triple fullers at the base. Iron cross guard with reversed langets and cylindrical grip wrapped top and bottom with leather lace which is anchored in the hide covering of the middle. Leather covered pommel. Good red and brown leather scabbard with its original shoulder strap and tassels. Complete, with some wear to the leather. Great character.
