Nothing less than iconic! The classic helmet associated with the Spanish exploration and conquest of North America. Iron, of one piece construction with roped comb. Elegant swept brim with roped edge and sunk borders. As with most armor used by the Spanish, these helmets were made in Northern Italy which at the time was part of the Spanish Hapsburg Empire. Dating to the period of Spanish adventurism, their use was wide spread, both on land and at sea where they were worn by soldier and pirate alike. Glossy brown patina overall, probably turned from blue.
