Iron guard with straight cross guard and curved knuckle bow. Radially fluted shell guards with alternating convex and concave fluted. Concentric bard matrix front and back. Radially fluted compressed pommel and wire wrapped grip. 38 ½” blade with deep fuller marked IN SOLINGEN at the forte. Spanish made using a German blade which is typical as the vast majority of swords produced in Europe mounted blades imported from Germany. See Rapiers, Valentine, #36 for another example of this type. Well preserved for the period.
