Dutch or British Colonial period. Well made with 6 1/4" thickened down turned blade, iron bolster. The grip with hooked terminal providing a finger stall and shaped bone scales. Shows its great age with dark patina and a little pitting to the right blade tip. Colonial domination was resisted in Kerala for two hundred years with many notable armed conflicts and rebellions. These knives were used for throat slashing in clandestine attacks.
