Classic example of good quality with 11 1/4" slightly curved s.e blade silver inlaid each side with a pair of figures, one in congenial accordance, the other with the male with a staff raised to strike and the female with her hand held to deflect the blow. Additional foliage, scrolls and inscription panel each side. The hilt swelled above the blade and modeled with onion form pommel. The scabbard with matching swell and tapered to oval section foot. Both of heavy sheet brass high relief embossed and engraved foliage and stylized foliage panels. Good uniform dark patina, probably gilt originally. The blade with mottled gray surface patina. The silver complete, excellent and bright.
