Second half of the 19th century. 27 3/4" slightly curved s.e. broad fullered blade decorated with foliage, military trophies and the star and crescent. Eastern Silver hilt with opened mouth lion head pommel, developing from the back strap representing the lion's mane with forward paws delineated. Inset black ass skin grip. Excellent throughout. The hilt boldly executed with minor casting imperfections. Blade plated with minor staining to the first 3/4" only. First example of this type we have encountered and likely made for a high ranking officer in the European taste.
