Brass hilt patterned after the British M.1822 "Gothic hilt" infantry officer's sword with arms of England badge. The back strap with Urdu inscription The Second Lancers Cavalry Regiment, Rider No 62, State of Pataila. Wire wrapped black leather grip. 30" curved blade remounted from an earlier tulwar. Hilt and grip preserved as made. Blade mostly smooth with some old pock marks pitting. Maharajah Karam Singh, ruled 1813-45 and allied with the British in the first Anglo-Sikh War. This sword served in his cavalry.
