Colonial period, probably mid-19th century and likely made to order for an English officer. 7 1/8" clipped point Bowie form blade. Scalloped aged rectangular cross guard with faded blued finish. Oval section iron grip decorated in true inlay (not koftgari), silver foliage panels bordered by repeated designs, similar to the Greek key. All originally heavy silver inlaid, now about 40% remaining. Finely crafted and distinctly different from any we have seen.
