Well known but rare form which carried on in Thrace, for a few more centuries in larger form. 7” length, forged iron with tapered tang and wedge section blade of down curved form. Excellent excavated condition. The form is clearly made for slashing, the sharply angled point notwithstanding. Perhaps a compound slash then thrust into the wound maneuver was employed. It is highly likely that it was an assassin’s weapon based on its unique functionality and the rarity of surviving examples.
