18th century. Conventional form. Domes skull with central spike, twin plume holders and sliding nasal bar. Eight peak butted link mail fall, excellent. The skull originally painted overall upon a smoothing coat of gesso like base. Just remnants of the paint with stable lightly oxidized metal mostly showing. Original cloth liner. Exceedingly rare with just a handful of known examples which seem to be of the same group. We are unaware of research identifying their origin and this is the only example we have ever seen in hand.
