17th century, excavated. From Fulbeck Hall, Lincolnshire England. Rare from with deeply dished pulouar form pommel and scalloped tip straight cross guard. 26 1/8” narrow fullered s.e. blade. Surface rusted overall with remnants of “manor house white” paint. From the 2002 liquidation of the contents of Fulbeck Hall, it probably belonged to General Sir Henry Fane, M.P., Commander in Chief in India relic from an 18th century battlefield or received as a gift. Fane is noted for brokering peace with the Sikh ruler, Ranjit Singh in 1837.
