Early 19th century. Forged iron head with short cheek straps, crescent form axe blade, leaf shaped fore spike and hooked back fluke. The blade stamped HYLAND. 97 1/4" total length. Circular section wood haft with blackened finish. Haft dry with a few bruises. Head with stable glossy brown patina.
