The classic combination weapon and jungle knife. Excellent quality example and particularly early. 13” curved edge wedge section blade shows spotty smooth staining. Tapered wood grip for one or two hand use with iron base ferule. The bottom cracked and secured with a woven split cane band in its working life. Inked collection identification appears to be museum coded. Well-crafted wood scabbard with open face and woven shoulder cord. The numbers repeated on the scabbard along with and earlier notation. Dark patina and surface encrustation indicative of decades of use. Appears to date about mid-19th century and probably collected in the 1899 insurrection. About as early an example as can be found.
