Philippine Insurrection of 1899-1902. From the General Harry Bandholtz Collection, which won the Grand Prize at the 1905 St. Louis Exposition. Hastily produced under the pressure of war with roughly leaf shaped point made from a file with the teeth intact. Hewn tapered wood shaft with tubular iron ferrule. The upper half of the haft with rudimentary notches decoration, perhaps with spiritual significance. 58 1/2” overall. Untouched with dark patina and light encrustation. A drip and a spatter of white paint on the point from wall mounting at the Bandholtz house in Marshall Michigan attesting to its high regard by General Bandholtz, as he chose carefully from his collection of over 1000 weapons for display in his home. See our web site for several other Bandholtz weapons.
