Philippine Insurrection capture from the General Harry Bandholtz collection which won first prize at the Saint Louis Exhibition of 1905. Fine pattern welded steel head of wavy form with distinct tapered core of softer steel between the harder edges. Banded brass socket with fine basket weave split cane segment below. Stepped cane haft. 34 3/4” total length. Probably originally longer but definitely used in this length. Showing wear and use including the cut butt, indicating a decade or more of use before its capture. Probably acquired from a Moro owner and reduced for close in fighting by a revolutionary during the 1892 war of independence from Spain.
