Red terracotta, 5 7/8" diameter, 3 3/4" height. Elongated hemispherical form with flat bottom and turned in lip. Coil made, evidently polished, now with a smooth dull finish. Large runic inscription below the lip. A number of runic alphabets exist and were used by Anglo-Saxon as well as Vikings. We have not identified this one. Minor flaking and mottled coloration from firing. Rare.
