Late Crusades period, 14th-15th century. Gilt bronze, over 1 1 /4” height. Symmetrical with the cross beam centered. Each beam tapered from the intersection as with the Maltese Cross, popularized in this period by the crusading Knights Hospitallers and probably the cross of a Crusader in the reconquest of the Balkans. Professionally refurbished with a 24karat gold overlay restored on a polished leather neck cord for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
